Okay, we like American food and there are a lot of great tasting dishes out there. However, sometimes it might be hard to stay in line with your diet program if you choose the wrong meal. This classic, Mac & Cheese might be this meal.

Luckily for you, we’ve come up with a slightly different recipe, which is low in carbohydrates and really satiating. Ideal for every Mac & Cheese lover on a weight loss diet.

  • Preparation Time: 10 minutes
  • Cooking/Baking Time: 20 minutes
  • Ready in: 30 minutes

Recipe: Fake Mac & Cheese (Low Carb)

Ingredients (6 portions)

  • 750 grams cauliflower
  • 200 grams cheese (your choice, can be lowfat as well)
  • 150 grams ham, lean
  • 400 grams sour cream
  • 200 grams cream cheese or cottage cheese
  • Salt, pepper, herbs etc.

Cooking Directions

  1. Pre-Heat the oven to 180 °C (356 °F).
  2. Cook the vegetables firm to the bite in a cooking pot.
  3. Cut the ham and cheese into thin slices. Mix it with the sour cream, the cream cheese and season it in a bowl.
  4. Drain the veggies and spread them in a gratin dish. Mix in the ham-cheese-cream.
  5. Cook the Fake Mac & Cheese for about 20 minutes (until the cheese turns golden brown).
  6. Enjoy your Low Carb Fake Mac & Cheese.

Notes & Recommendations

  • Tip 1: Take the fat-reduced version of sour cream and cream cheese to save some calories.

  • Tip 3: You’re vegetarian? Leave the ham out and you’re ready to go!.
