There is a famous Chinese proverb and it goes like this: “The teacher opens the door, but the pupil must enter by himself.” It is self-evident that Aesir Sports obligated itself (mediated through its authors) to contribute to the promotion of physical and mental fitness and health of the human society.

The Problematic Nature

While our ancestors dined on Mother Nature’s rich tables (well, sometimes not as rich as they may have wished) and had to do physical work, before they could claim their prize and feast, the most of us just have to walk across the living room and into the kitchen to get plenty of food (and we don’t really have to prepare it much either). It has never been that easy to ingest loads of energy – measured as calories – in one sitting without having to exhaust yourself first. “Hey,” some of you might call out, “this is actually a good thing and one of the greatest advancements on human history.” That may be true indeed, but if you keep on stuffing your face with calorie-dense food and reach a surplus on a long-term basis, this might get a little bit … well, let’s just say complicated. In the long run this advantage will turn into a disadvantage, because our body will prepare for a food scarcity that will never come again. In fact, modern human society doesn’t deal with starvation anymore. Instead, we’re dealing with excess supply.

A lack of activity, physical (and mental) exercise, an unhealthy nutrition and a liability to hedonism leads us down a dark path of degeneration of the human species coupled with lots of health-related issues. Obesity, diabetes, heart failure and cognitive diseases like Alzheimer’s are the great achievements in today’s affluent society. Thanks to our technological and industrial advancement in the production of food stuff, energy is available in big quantities for a dime and a nickel. The consequences of this development are disastrous.
